Inspired by a 15th Century drawing of Edinburgh Old Town, the museum was designed as a series of linear habitable walls and spaces within the existing context. The site typography creates layer of the spaces for various functions. The entrance being at the higher level, amalgamate both route visitors taken from the Mile and the New Town. The circulation through the museum is guide by a linear stair that distribute into various levels in the central hall. The walls contain a range of utility that allows the spaces to concentrate performing its main function ie. to display. The warm and softness of the colourful tapestries will be brought to life with the use of the hard cold concrete.
