Ever since the discovery of the cave, humans have made use of nature’s geological formations. Building into the landscape engages earth’s surface as a building element that re-exerts the increasing awareness of our planet’s limited natural resource. The integration of building and landscape becomes the holistic vision throughout the scheme. The building is arranged to flow along with the existing contours of the site in an organic manner. Walls flow along the contours of the hillside creating merged dialogues between inside and outside where the interplay of gardens, plaza and earth sheltered rooms increase the fusion between building and landscape.

MR PATEL'S INDIVIDUAL PROJECT ACTS AS A CULMINATION TO VARYING ROUTES THROUGH HIS TEAM'S NEWLY STRUCTURED EVERTON DISTRICT. HIS INTEREST IN THE SIGNIFICANCE OF TIMBER LIES AT A MUCH DEEPER LEVEL THAN BIOMASS TECHNOLOGY AND 'FSC STANDARDS' SPECIFICATION. RATHER THE DESIGN STRIPS AND EXPOSES THE USE OF TIMBER IN CRITICAL COLLAGE, WITH THE GRAINS, THE SMELLS, THE ORCHESTRATION OF LIGHT, THE COLOURS AND THE TECTONICS AN EXERCISE IN DIVERSITY, SHOCK AND AWE.
