Transatlantic Spaces of the Pilgrim Fathers: A Journey from England to Holland to America

Part 2 Dissertation 2018

Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL) | UK
This essay is the first to examine the successive spaces that defined the seventeenth-century journey of the ‘Pilgrim Fathers’ from their homes in Northern England, via exile in Holland, onboard the Mayflower, through to the founding of their colony in the ‘New World’ of America. Original archival and fieldwork research is combined with consultation with experts to situate the historical narrative of the Pilgrim Fathers within their sequential spatial experiences.
