The Reception of Refugees in the UK

Part 2 Dissertation 2019
Fiona Grieve
University of Westminster | UK
The UK’s primary role in the refugee crisis is that of a destination country; a place to seek asylum. A refugee will seek asylum in the UK in the hope of attaining residency and a safe place to live. The asylum process, in principle, is the reception process of integrating a refugee into society. This dissertation explores this journey through the UK asylum system focusing specifically on the provision of accommodation to understand if and how the UK reception process prepares a refugee for life in the UK.
