A Journey to the Centre of the Earth - Geological Repository and Exhibition, Reykjavik, Iceland Part 2 Project 2008 Alison Thornber University of Huddersfield | UK The Natural History Museum for Earth Science in Reykjavik inspired by Jules Verne’s ‘Journey to the Centre of The Earth’ is an architectonic vision realised within a synthesised cohesive uncompromising language. Linking city with waterfront an experiential promenade meanders via a hexagrid structure reminiscent of stalagtites and stalagmites, geological strata, bathed within pools of lights, tactile sensation, and ethereal revelation. The realised design is the outcome of rigorous research, investigation, exploration, and the passionate pursuit of perfection.
