Mos (MuseumOfSexuality) in the ESTUARY OF LIFE Part 2 Project 2012 Tunikowski Wojciech Wroclaw University of Technology | Poland Topic of this Master Theses is a result of its author’s research on current European erotic’s and human sexuality’s related museum buildings. Results indicate common bias in terms of those buildings’ creation process: localization, form, interior design and – what is most important – choice of exhibition content. Results of those processes across many different buildings are very similar to each other and they all boil down to physiological aspect of sexual act. In author’s opinion, such selective and cursory way of showing human sexuality can be derogatory to its sobriety, mysticism and complexity. Topic of this Master Theses is design of Museum of Sexuality localized in Mont Saint Michele Bay’s estuary in western France. Subject of this Master Theses, thanks to it’s symbolic character, interacts with it’s surroundings, landscape and whole architectural environment, creating new, integral, urbanistic idea – Estuary of Life.MoS Subject of this design is being cyclically flooded by tidal waves. Thanks to those hydrodynamic forces, the building can gain energy which is symbolic – the building is being brought to life during tide and dies away during ebb tide. Visitors are witnesses to that process and take part in that sensual spectacle which illustrate symbolic return to mother’s womb as a conscious, matured seed. However, the environmental conditions of the project area turn an easy strolls to the building into a deadly-dangerous pilgrimage. Building is a thing that makes people curious, but when they will get to close, it would be the only possible place to survive the flood in.Estuary of LifeTogether with architectural environment, the building creates urbanistic space of cult connected with search of human’s existential identity. By its expression – asserted in its form, construction and function, the building touches symbolics hidden within sexual partners relationship’s intimacy. Situated between Mont Saint Michel (treated as a symbol of integrated society) and uninhabited Tombeline Island (treated as a symbol of solitude and nothingness) the project marks out boundaries of human’s dilemma of choice between relationship, society and solitude. If one does not choose his island before flood, the metaphorical Absolute (the Ocean), wouldTopic of this Master Theses is a result of its author’s research on current European erotic’s and human sexuality’s related museum buildings.
