Educational Center Talca Part 1 Project 2012 Felipe LóPezNicol DíAzVictor Arnault University of Chile | Chile The project is located in Talca, in the Maule region of Chile.The problem: Active community concerned about education lack of infrastructure after earthquake.Strategies: Create qualitative public infrastructure as a response to the actual demands within the educational community; The schools with equipment that mitigates the necessities at an urban/ community level; Expand education to the public space, expanding the classrooms frontiers.The city: Talca is a city with the necessity of equipment at an urban level and need a feedback between the city and the school.The educational unit is meant as a producer of equipment at an urban level which provides spaces both the learning expansion and the community integration.About: Environment, response to a setting in its urban dimensions and scale, being located in the entirely available terrain; Public space, the school opens towards the plaza, a more hierarchical crossing is projected towards the barrack square uniting the pedestrian circuit with the city; Urban heritage, the continuous façade is preserved and the urban scale, making a continuous volume and a unified ceiling in this project; Architectural heritage, the already mentioned facades recover the rhythms, heights and proportions both from the surrounding and from school´s old facade.
