Crucible Part 1 Project 2015 William Ashworth Nottingham Trent University | UK In the modern digital age, powerful corporate establishments mine the public’s personal information to sell off to advertising companies, in many cases this is down without the knowledge nor approval of the public. Within the ever closing union between right wing government and powerful business infrastructure, emerges a totalitarian and corporative state. The Crucible embodies the notion of a privacy movement, engaging the community in democratic debates, allowing us to break down the partitions separating out digital environments. Applying a social context to the data centre typology embraces and unprecedented public encounter with the physical manifestations of our digital environment. The Crucible is a tectonic expression of Lambrate’s industrial heritage as well as being a public utility to exercise democracy on matters of digital privacy Tutor(s) Gavin Richards
