Mister Miyazaki’s Forest Homes Part 1 Project 2016 Yuchen Mei University of Liverpool | UK Hayao Miyazaki’s cartoon My Neighbour Totoro creates a strangely believable universe of supernatural creatures coexisting with modernity. In my imagination Totoro, the ‘keeper of the forest’ visits the site and removes the walls between homes, creating spaces with a stronger social engagement. It emphasises the fundamental role of architecture as a tool for social scenarios, replacing the isolating terrace housing scheme into an 'edgeless' forest encouraging human interaction.
