Alternative Education Machine : For the Socially Reclusive Japanese Youth Part 2 Project 2017 Abdullah Iqbal Leeds Beckett University | UK This thesis proposes hijacking the gaming arcades and public spaces of Akihabara town in Tokyo, which explores immersive possibilities to remodify structures and environment to create an alternative educational model. The intervention is connected through a route via farming, production and distribution, which specifically targets socially reclusive Japanese youth (hikikomori), to subtract them from their addiction to hyper-Stimuli and escapism and re-appropriate them back into the society.
