Adaptive Landscape – Material Culture – The Metals Scrapyard Part 2 Project 2017 Kate O'Carroll University College Dublin | Ireland This thesis presents a re-examination of a suburban route as a piece of quasi-industrial infrastructure. It proposes a network of interventions feeding into and off of the host network of scrap metal, a Scrapyard and Refinery for the collection, processing, archiving and redistributing of scrap, it challenges the traditional context of such a place and investigates an alternative and more community driven, engaging and transparent iteration of the Scrapyard typology.
