The Emotional Potential of (Making) Architecture: Embodying Consolation Part 2 Project 2017 Eva Demuynck Catholic University of Leuven | Belgium As a way of coming to terms with the recent loss of my father, my main focus for this master thesis project was researching how space and matter can offer non-verbal consolation. I did this while designing a series of spatial interventions in my childhood home. The resulting intersections between place, memory and architectural detailing, illustrate how both architecture and designing have the potential to become deeply emotional and comforting.
