Brunel Bathhouse

Part 1 Project 2018
Rachel Buckley
London Metropolitan University | UK
The Bath House reopens Brunel’s 1843 Thames Tunnel shaft to the public via a
subterranean world of vaulted bathing pools. The tidal ebb is filtered through a landscape of reed beds that reconnects the public realm of the Rotherhithe peninsula to the river.
The proposal embraces the River Thames and riparian infrastructure as a means of
promoting the physical, psychological, environmental and social health of the City and its citizens.
