In Virtue of Time Part 2 Project 2019 Nina Beck University of Liechtenstein | Liechtenstein It is obvious that time per se can be seen as a linear constant. It starts in an unknown moment and moves further into an unpredictable future. What is more complicated and not that easy to grasp is that time has multifunctional layers. Those different layers and elements should be seen in all their diverse and different time frames. The project ‘in virtue of time’ focuses on the design of a training centre and a dormitory for students from ethnic minorities in Bangladesh. This project is going to be placed in an area called ‘Jhenaigati’, which is situated in the northern part of the country, close to the Indian boarder. According to the problematic situation of the different ethnicities, the missing educational institutions and the inappropriate housing conditions, all the needed objects are developed. Focusing on the use of local material, strengthening existing traditions, as well as considering time as one of the main key drivers of the design are important topics of the overall work.
