Eternal Holiday Part 2 Project 2019 Alessandro Cugola Catholic University of Leuven | Belgium Mainstream approaches to nature, such as tourism, are based on freedom of movement and choices. Freedom is driven by the consumption of experiences and as soon as the meaning we sought is exhausted, we move towards a new one. But what does it happen when you have to stay in a place after you have seen all of its beauty and done all the things you could do? New emotions would overcome you, such as boredom, and as a defence you would start acting differently: from a passive observer you become an active performer.This transition is the core interest of this project, titled Eternal Holiday. The four interventions, based in the South Funen Archipelago, Denmark, explore an alternative way to look at nature, not through its consumption but rather through boredom and constraint. In these conditions, emotions re-shape the reality that surrounds us, as we project our mood onto the things we look at. Within the four approaches the role of the landscape is constantly discussed. In the development of the project, story telling served as a way to explore the emotions that would come throughout time, whereas Architecture was used as a tool to create such transitions.
