Transient Deficiencies Part 2 Project 2019 Saad Boujane American University of Sharjah | UAE Transient Deficiencies questions the nature of the dialogue between what is permanent/perfect and what is temporary/transient. To what degree can various architectural interventions activate, enliven, and potentially increase the experiential and cultural diversities? Does the urban fabric’s aim of perfection and precision feed into the notion of sameness? Does perfection in the industrial area make the environment complete? is there no room for evolution beyond the current state? A kind of imperfect evolution? The showcased series of analogue drawings are therefore a representation of an attitude towards monocultural environments, specifically the seemingly perfect, permanent and predictable industrial areas of The United Arab Emirate. The current state of aesthetic/formal is limited to the existing warehouse typologies and the social structures within them. The synergy between what is permanent and what is momentary generates a rivalry, from which the beauty of deficiency starts to be acknowledged. Tutor(s) Michael Hughes
