Monument for the Ordinary Part 1 Project 2019 Anqi Zhao University of Liverpool | UK The disparity between scale of the Liverpool Football Club stadium and the Victorian terraced houses in Anfield exemplifies a common site in today’s metropolis – the spectacle that awkwardly sits within a decaying surrounding. Underneath the glimmer of these landmarks, communities like Anfield often undergo gentrification or remain derelict.Could the residential also become monumental so as to compete with the capitalistic ambitions? Replacing what is now the stadium, this housing project explores how a monument for the ordinary can withstand the rapid change of living patterns and thus merge the identity of the city with its communities.
