Curious Intersections Part 1 Project 2019 William Garner Loughborough University | UK To many people, Albert Einstein epitomises the peak of intelligence. Throughout his career he often argued curiosity and the imagination are even more important than acquired knowledge. As humans, libraries have been our symbol of knowledge since their inception and have historically been our physical archive for the discoveries we have found and the stories we have told but rarely have they been designed with the imagination in mind as a first principle. ‘Curious Intersections’ is a second-year project which questions library typology and programme and proposes a new library model relevant for this era and beyond, whilst attempting to create an architectural language based off curiosity itself.
