Alternate Surface: The 3rd Coast

Part 2 Project 2020

Conventionally, coastal spectrums are divided into 2; those of cities, and those of nature. The project questions the standard practice of land reclamation and alerts the disappearance of 'the commons' - our seas and wetland - in the name of real estate.

When deciding the fate of our surrounding environment, construction businesses were more preferred than our future. This eventually gave birth to many isolated, divided lands and cities. Wolgot is one of them. Lacking most infrastructure one can think of, from basic schools to health centers.

As methods of making form and material, different ways in which nature makes space and place are considered. Architecture guides these elements to make vegetation grow and sediment settle. As a program, cultural programs, education systems, and residential units are placed within the new land, serving its purpose of giving different perspectives to life.

Let the experience in this place be a question to daily standard practices.
