Interlocking Studios, Fish Island Part 1 Project 2020 Mara Fetche University of Greenwich | UK Interlocking Studios, Fish Island is an artist’s studio and a gallery space in Hackney, London. The project houses 3 creatives: painter Frank Bowling, sculptor Melvin Edwards, and a collaboration with a local artist.Inspired by the architectural language of the painting Mirror by Frank Bowling, the project is guided by a unique character and materiality of objects, together with the informal and flexible qualities of the site’s nearby live-work spaces. The project proposes a meanwhile use of the local industrial sites. Placed within an existing site structure, the project is comprised of suspended studio units, rainwater harvesting roofs and a central spiral stair. It forms a sequence of spaces adaptable to the needs of its users through precast concrete elements that are meant to be assembled in different variations. Tutor(s) Yorgos Loizos Ned Scott
