A large portion of our daily lives revolve around transportation, particularly through cars. However, if in the future, the use of cars were to significantly diminish what will become of the endless acres of land dedicated purely to the use of parked cars? Without intervention, parking lots would fall into disrepair and disuse. Throughout the country the remnants of the auto age would scar the landscape for generations to come. The project proposes an intervention of a massive scale to disrupt and transform overtime the massive swaths of concrete into something new and malleable.

Earth Moves in its essence is about the manipulation of the line by use of intentionally shaped objects, with the help of human interaction. The final project of the semester was influenced by the exercises we initially explored. While ‘Points on Line, Curve, and Cloth’ was an exploration of a system two dimensionally on a flat surface. ‘Earth Moves’ takes those objects operating within a system and begins to manipulate the surface in three dimensions. Thinking not only of the path an objects can take on the earth but of the impact it might have in shaping it.
