Titiwangsa Transportation Hub: The Urban Green Node

The transportation hub is a crucial urban catalyst in today’s world. It operates more than 18 hours a day, 365 days a year, and consumes tonnes of energy. Contextually, Malaysia is located near the equator, and the climate here is hot and humid throughout the year. Like many others in the region, large transportation hubs are usually enclosed for air conditioning to achieve thermal comfort. These enclosures create a distinct boundary between the indoor and outdoor environment, making no connection between pedestrian linkages, human activities, buildings, and the site context.

Therefore, the Titiwangsa Transportation Hub aims to be an eco-friendly terminal for various modes of transportation, equipped with sustainable features and technologies like algae photobioreactors and solar systems to achieve a net-zero energy emission. This transportation hub is located within the urban center of Kuala Lumpur. In response to the tropical climate, sustainable elements like natural daylighting, cross ventilation, rainwater harvesting systems are integrated with lush tropical landscapes to keep the users comfortable and excited.

Overall, this hub is an urban green node that presents itself as an innovative and serene public tropical oasis in the hectic concrete jungle of Kuala Lumpur for the people to congregate and make friends!
