Connections

Part 1 Project 2022

Connections is a proposal that aims to build social capital in Lawrence Hill, an area of Bristol with high levels of deprivation, by providing the means for the community to engage in entrepreneurial endeavours, help sustain local economic growth and provide a beacon for community discourse in the wider area. A combined university incubator provides a social business entrepreneurship course, nurturing business minds, with all profits from the businesses created going back into the local community, along with an integrated local business incubator.

All contained within one singular form that steps up and over a food market and public route connecting the two levels, while the upper incubator levels step up to respect existing context, creating green terraces that visually trickle down into a new park and public realm, creating a new ‘focal centre’ for the area.
