Seaweed Fabric - Market and Factory Part 1 Project 2022 Shiyu Zhao University of Reading | UK When dealing with climate change and moving towards a plant-based die, all these trends are making seaweed a new star ingredient. Seaweed is emerging as a growth engine for a sustainable future in Europe. This project aims to promote Cornwall's emerging seaweed production industry and diversify Cornwall's economy beyond commercial fishing and tourism. It attracts people to learn about the process of seaweed farming and production, the benefits seaweed brings to people's lives and the important role it plays in sustainable development. This project is one of the sites on Cornwall's seaweed line. A pioneering factory-market combination of seaweed fabric is proposed in Par Harbour, where seaweed can be farmed, processed and textile products made with public participation can be sold at the market. As one of branches of processed seaweed products, the fabric is an introducer to them. The public is introduced to and grows to love seaweed as a plant and related products through a series of activities, which include participating in the production process, visiting seaweed fabric crafts, experiencing DIY workshops and putting them on sale at the market.
