Het Stapelhuis Part 2 Project 2022 Joseph Luke Wojewoda University of Central Lancashire | UK Het Stapelhuis manifests an exploration of thresholds into a visual ‘carnival’ of temporary performance spaces across the neighbourhood of Katendrecht, Rotterdam. The design utilises an existing warehouse structure in conjunction with new materials and methods to create a singular piece of coherent architecture along the northern edge of Katendrecht. The existing warehouse shall be modified to permanently house various multi-use spaces which can be adapted to suit individual needs. The carnival begins in the host building which then spreads out onto the surrounding streets connecting with various Walhalla theatre groups amongst others to transform spaces into new vibrant temporary functions. The culminating ‘zone’ created by this process will serve as a new district within Katendrecht where creativity is celebrated visually by creating a route that links function to function.
