To Dwell in the Traces of Aridity: Idleness Excavated in the Lines of Time Part 2 Project 2023 Mafalda Sofia Carracha Santos Technical University of Lisbon | Portugal Porto Santo, an insular and arid island in the Atlantic Ocean, becomes close as a territory of research. Through an open methodology, the process was developed in two parts: first in group and second individually. The reading consists of a temporal investigation: the past, the present and the future. It was possible to identify the essence of Porto Santo: a past that lived, with its prophets and crocheted walls; a predatory present, characterized by the contrast of noisy hotels and a silent nature; and a desired future that respects the essence, where a path aims to reveal what the island could have been.Individual development is divided into two actions: the path and the dwellings. As a first action, the project seeks to grasp this path from the territory through two investigations that carefully define it: property limits registers and existent vegetation.Aware that the speed of today's times and the distance of the path were not compatible with the possibility of sleeping and inhabiting this path, the second action came to ask if "we are still able to dwell?" A system of dwellings is materialized along the path that calls for the prophet to shelter and experience idleness. Tutor(s) Daniela Arnaut
