The City as School project investigates the potential of architecture to inspire and bring creativity to learning through a primary school expansion scheme in the London Borough of Hackney.

Phase one of the project focuses on retaining and re-imagining teaching spaces on the vacant part of the Harrington Hill School site to suit current teaching and class sizes. The proposal concentrates on the health and
well-being of users, with an ambition to improve the performance of the existing building.

Phase two proposes a new teaching block, which aims to provide a series of outdoor spaces that forge new connections to nature. The proposal provides additional gathering spaces accessible for the community of Lower Clapton- a library, a small hall and a studio space organized around the new public courtyard.
