The Neo-Hansom Hall Part 2 Project 2023 Eduardo Jorge Barros Nottingham Trent University | UK Located in Leicester’s city centre area, known as the Hansom Hall site from Belvoir Street. The project aims to explore the monumental and expressionist aspects of architecture into a contemporary proposal that promotes spaces of reasoning in politics within its design scheme. The monumental aspect of the project is an essential characteristic because it allows large buildings with a strong presence to stand out from the context while also becoming more engaging with their constituents.Throughout the preliminary research stages of the chosen site area, it became apparent that Leicester is a city that seems to be overshadowed by the norms and regulations that the House of Lords enforces. Therefore as a method of allowing the Leicester Senate to be a potential replacement for the House of Lords as well as becoming a more relevant and independent structure, the new parliament will also focus on becoming an imposing building of power that can find a close relationship between the educational side of the city and the proposed structure by empowering the weak and un-represented community members from Leicester while also allowing the basic political notions of clarity, freedom and truth to coexist within the debating space.
