Comuna Mujer Part 2 Project 2023 Pavel Alejandro Pino SalinasRoxana Nicole Castillo Segil University of Lima | Peru The initiative "Comuna Mujer" is situated in the popular neighborhood of Pachacútec, Ventanilla district, known for its challenging terrain, lack of infrastructure, and concerning rates of gender-based violence, unemployment, and school dropouts. Regarded as one of Latin America's most severe poverty-stricken areas, Pachacútec presented a critical question: How to strike a balance between a project that offers protection to vulnerable women while fostering community involvement and participation?Given the vast expanse of Pachacútec, the project necessitated an integrated approach that combines urban planning with a forward-looking vision for the neighborhood and its potential infrastructure. Recognizing the residents' knowledge about their everyday spaces and support networks was crucial at the micro level. The primary goal is to empower women within the community and uplift the entire neighborhood through activities that foster skill-building, personal development, community bonding, and the use of a naturally formed diagonal path traversing the terrain. The layout of the proposal cleverly incorporates the sloping land into the design of public spaces, situating programmatic elements along the path, facilitating the community's seamless movement within the project during their daily activities, without needing to access the building. Additionally, the building itself acts as an observation point, offering vistas of the surrounding neighborhood. Pavel Alejandro Pino SalinasRoxana Nicole Castillo Segil Tutor(s) Julian Jones Perez
