Student Centre:The Extension of University House, Bucharest Part 2 Project 2023 Luana Chita Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism | Romania Project site is located in Bucharest, at short distance from the University Square and the Romana Square, two significant points on the map of Bucharest universities. It is a landmark for Bucharest due to the unique character of the existing building, property of the University of Bucharest, a monument with strong romantic influences built in 1860, but also due to the impressive garden it houses, even if its current state differs a lot from the initial landscaping. The project aims to take advantage of the particular context of the site and its cultural and social values to bring both the house and the garden back to life. It intensifies the relationship between the university environment and the site by proposing a center dedicated to students' free time activities, but also for hosting exhibitions, workshops and conferences that bring the public closer to students concerns. On a large scale, the proposal aims to translate into a few architectural lines immersed in a mass of vegetation, from which only the monument and the east volume can be distinguished. In conclusion, the project can be summed up in one phrase: building as the “landscape” and “edge” for nature- hiding in, behind and under the garden.
