Bristol, a city steeped in history, has had its vibrant culture shaped by triumph and turmoil. From the shadows of the slave trade and wartime blitz to the struggles with inequality and gentrification, Bristol's diverse society has shown resilience. Throughout history, Bristolians have risen against oppression and championed freedom, embodying a spirit of defiance and progress.

In this context, the activist hub ‘Ground for Change’ emerges as a beacon of community and empowerment. Situated in a city renowned for its rebellious spirit, the project aims to unite activists and residents, providing a platform for every voice to be heard. The building’s design reflects a commitment to honesty and transparency, showcasing raw materials and visible structure through open, interconnected spaces. Drawing inspiration from constructivism and high-tech architecture, the project highlights functionality, progress, and forward-looking ambition.

The project’s manifesto is rooted in Bristol’s rebellious heritage while advancing toward a sustainable and inclusive future. It serves dual purposes: as a hub for activists, providing a dynamic space for engagement and action, and as a community centre celebrating the spirit of activism. The project aims to raise awareness about ongoing issues, fostering collective efforts to drive positive change and build a better future together.
