Part 2 Project 2024

Athens Metropolitan College | Greece
'Contours of Intervention' creatively merges psychiatric clinic typologies with the traditional Cycladic architecture of Kastro Sifnos, introducing a pioneering clinical typology aimed at revitalizing both community and environment in Sifnos. This project stands as a testament to sustainable innovation, employing locally-sourced materials and advanced green technologies to minimize environmental impact while enhancing urban vitality.

The heart of the design is the 'Green Spine'— a lush vertical garden that not only purifies the air but seamlessly integrates natural elements into the urban fabric, offering a tranquil urban retreat. This feature underscores our commitment to biodiversity and ecological stewardship.

The project’s design is rigorously documented and developed through research, in collaboration with researchers and professors from the University of Athens and input from actual sufferers, ensuring that it is deeply grounded in real-world needs and environmental science.

Modular and adaptable, 'Contours of Intervention' respects the rich cultural heritage of its locale while projecting a vision of progressive, sustainable architecture. It not only address- es pressing urban challenges such as density and environmental degradation but also sets a new standard for future developments in creating resilient, liveable communities.
