Idea Orchard Part 2 Project 2024 Tereza Flidrova Oxford Brookes University Oxford | UK The Idea Orchard explores how contemporary technologies such as 3D printing and robotics can be applied to traditional materials like clay to create sustainable, site-specific architecture. Located in Wytham Woods near Oxfordshire, the project integrates local materials—clay and timber—into the construction process, establishing a strong connection to the natural environment. The design develops through an intuitive process involving plaster mould-making, 3D scanning, and reassembly into puzzle-like structures. These fragments are then 3D printed in clay, forming a network of interconnected architectural elements that blend seamlessly with the landscape. Through this exploration, the project creates a dialogue between advanced technology and natural materials, pushing the boundaries of what clay can achieve in modern construction while maintaining ecological awareness and respecting the site's context.
