The Framemaker Part 2 Project 2023 Zartaj Kamran KhanHajer Muwafak AliTala Akhal American University of Sharjah | UAE The Framemaker is a landscape-oriented project that privileges framing as a generative tool of singular experiences. It is a critique on mundane dormitory as it highlights the disparity between individual experiences who have contrasting views from their rooms despite residing in the same dormitory. The project emphasizes the colossal quality of the campus and its impact on the lived experience, criticizing its symmetry and the disregard for orientation and views. As a response to said issues, the project proposes inward-looking architecture by focusing on framing natural elements to create unique and immersive experiences. Different framing techniques are explored through the inspiration of film camera angles, the human field of vision, and the architectural form itself. This proposal introduces specific frames; the Pink Frame, the Flurry Frame, and the Sub-flurry Frame, each designed to feature and enhance a specific natural element from the campus and a singular human function. The Time-Lapse Frame stands out as a transformative experience, with a top-down perspective that prompts the user to look up and witness the changing skies. The Framemaker delves into the concept of framing as a means to shape and enhance our campus environment, offering users captivating moments of natural encounters.
