‘The Venice’: An Analogous Experience Part 2 Project 2017 Mariya Lapteva Newcastle University | UK Responding to Venice’s ever-increasing numbers of tourists, as well as the disruptive nature of the visiting cruise ships, the project proposes a strategy which diverts the cruise ships from the city’s historic core, as well as entertains the arriving visitors. ‘The Venice’ creates an immersive theatrical experience through idealised reproductions of events that took place in the city through history, set within cardboard-thin sets, reminiscent of Venice’s once serene backdrops.
