All Along The Watchtower(s) – Reviving Coventry’s Memories Part 1 Project 2016 Luke Bryant University of Nottingham Nottingham | UK Modern day Coventry appears to lack pride and identity. The destruction of the gatehouses epitomises the city’s disconnect with its past. My project revives Coventry’s memories by creating symbolic architecture located on the significant gatehouse sites, to reconnect and pay homage to the city’s past identity. Gatehouses, previously used for defence, are reimagined and renamed as ‘watchtowers’ to emphasise observation. Each watchtower celebrates a memory of Coventry’s rich history. Luke Bryant Tutor(s)
