Regrowing Vauxhall Part 1 Project 2020 Charlotte Cocking Central Saint Martins, UAL | UK Re-growing Vauxhall is a project which aims to regenerate the area of Vauxhall, London. The scheme is focused around the area surrounding the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens. The gardens and the area surrounding are rich in industrial, infrastructural, architectural and cultural heritage. This heritage is used to inspire a program of activities aimed to bring the modern community together. The regeneration begins with small scale production growing led by local residents, this then evolves and grows to include a multitude of places and spaces - all with the aim of bring the community together for pleasurable activity. The community is gradually resewn, rebuilt and regenerated. A selection of buildings has been designed with two key intentions:To be built and constructed by the community themselves.To use as many local, low carbon or plant-based materials as possible Over time, the Pleasure gardens once again regains its reputation as the centre of learning, growing and leisure in the capital.
