After the explosion of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant in Ukraine on June 6, 2023, a floating dock from the Pallada shipyard in Kherson was swept away by floodwaters.

Originally used for transporting containers, the dock traveled 150 kilometers to Odesa. Its journey mirrored the fate of many Ukrainians displaced by war, carried by forces beyond their control.

This project draws on that journey, transforming the dock into a symbol of resilience. The dock will be transported to Berlin, passing through cities like Vilkovo, Belgrade, Budapest, and Wroclaw, which face potential threats from climate change. Along the way, containers on the dock will carry endemic species from each city, reflecting the impact of human actions on ecosystems.

Once in Berlin, the dock will be reimagined in stages. The structure will be partially dismantled, its foundation floating as it becomes a fixed pier and observation tower. The species carried in its containers will be released, integrating into their new habitat. The dock, once adrift, will become a witness to the growth of a new ecosystem, symbolizing adaptation and renewal in the face of environmental and human disruption.
