Dance Theatre Part 0 Project 2005 Mertali Keskin Newcastle University | UK Mertali Keskin Bronze Medal submission/ Lee McLaughlin The Dance Centre project brief required a sophisticated response to a historical site context, an important cultural building and a trailblazing regeneration project in a part of Newcastle upon Tyne ripe for major redevelopment. Lee McLaughlin has achieved a very successful resolution to this brief by responding to each aspect of the site in a sensitive, considered way and finding the spacemaking language internally to deliver a cohesive, convincing and exciting project proposal. The strategic urban design agenda articulated by simple but effective public realm and underground parking proposals for the building completed a comprehensive quality submission.
