Interchange Library & Learning Centre, Recife, Brazil Part 2 Project 2005 Lianka ChiericiLizzie Osborne University of Huddersfield | UK Promoting social integration and education within poor settlements of Recife, Brazil, a learning centre has been conceived to serve the urban community via a network of mobile units emanating from a central facility situated in Brasilia Teimosa, an established shantytown. The mobility character of the library ought to react to the contrasting nature of a city’s static architectural fabric and the transitory character of human experience, also manifesting the dynamic of the learning process. This is also reflected in the apparently motionless element of the project, the anchor to the urban network, the interchanging component, continuously morphing as the mobile units are moving within.
