The project encompasses a variety of marine conservative functions to slow down and counteract the destruction of oceans. The distinct functions are operated by different people that has a shared interest for the benefit of the North Sea. The centre therefore creates a melting pot of a large variety of people to share their knowledge between each other.

The design is not only spreading public awareness through educational methods, but also proactively taking part in resolving the issue.

Materialistically, the design attempts to fit in with the surrounding context. Not obstructing views or existing coastal paths, but instead extending the cultural sphere through thoughtful interventions. The building is designed to withstand erosion from the sea and to therefore have an exceptionally long life. This Marine Conservation Centre is introduced to assist in reducing the negative impact that us humans have on nature. Designed to educate and to actively demonstrate good practice, until it is no longer needed. After which its shell is left to be re-purposed for another cause. A cause for future architects to decide.
