Landhaus: Walking the Landscape as Design Practice Part 2 Project 2017 Tom Hewitt Northumbria University Newcastle | UK The thesis investigates what it means to design a Landhaus, where “building and land enter into a ceaseless and reciprocally conditional dialogue.” Rather than a site, I explored a territory loosely structured by the Newcastle-Morpeth railway. Through extensive walked enquiry, I gained a deep understanding of this working landscape and its latent infrastructures. This deep topography approach translated into architecture which reinforces layered histories and closely responds to its landscape. Tom Hewitt Tutor(s)
