Paris Mediatheque Part 1 Project 2004 David YeatesArielle Marshall University of Portsmouth | UK The site links three streets including Rue de Faubourg St Antoine, in the 12th arrondisement, Paris. The locality of the urban site provided the opportunity to combine offices, workshops and living accommodation, and to create a high level of interaction between users. My decision was to link all of these together with multiple routes using many changes in level. My project was an exploration of folding forms and planes, designed to create freedom of movement and flowing space. The dialogue of faceted planes was an approach to combining the complex functionality of a mediatheque with a highly expressive structural exterior envelope.
