Our personal histories informs the way we interpret the world around us. Our past creates prejudices that we unconsciously adopt. While memory informs our life and desires. Space is the medium of memory a surface on which body and time leaves traces. I have taken such marks as the starting points for an architectural investigation. Which in turn recall my past and locate the world.Architecture records a memory as well as creating a memory itself.
Michelle Saywood

Michelle is a dedicated student with boundless enthusiasm and commitment to her work. This results in sound and thorough exploration at all levels of her project. In her final project Michelle demonstrated a well grounded understanding of the activities and the culture of the Lake District. This is most evident in both the progrmmatic concerns and detailed design of her work. Michelle's work is compelling and imaginative. While remaining formally carm Michelle has produced a well considered and innovative undergraguate project.

IN ANTICIPATION-Section through the emotion of anticipation.Labelled luggage.
SEATOLLER HOTEL AND ACTIVITY CENTRE. Section AA. Elevation of clothed accomadation block that floats over the landscape. The technically dressed body performs in the landscape new arrivals feel naked.
SEATOLLER HOTEL AND ACTIVITY CENTRE. Section CC. Elevation of Restaurant and terrace falling into carved out Kayak bay. Bodies are exposed and enclosed across the hovering staicase.
GROUND FLOOR PLAN.
SECTIONAL PERSPECTIVE. Carved out kayak Bay and wet floating changing area.
SECTIONAL PERSPECTIVE. Double sided Climbing wall and Traversing wall. The changing area opens out into a top lit verticle space. The emotion of climbing is anticipated.
SECTION DD. Man made ground falls into the dungeon like Kayak bay and is remade in the landscape of the Lake District. The unfamiliar is remade in the familiar.
PERSPECTIVE OF RESTAURANT AND BAR, OVER LOOKING THE RIVER. Human height corner window exposes the threshold between the comfort and warmth of the restaurant and the exhilaration of adventure in the kayak bay and the Lake District.
