Threshold & Taxonomy – Applied Arts Gallery and Studios, Digbeth, Birmingham Part 2 Project 2018 Matthew Moran Birmingham City University | UK Attempting to preserve the buildings which give Digbeth its unique character, the project involves the insertion of new, distinct, elements of built form, and these new elements transform the spatial characteristics of the existing buildings they occupy. The newly created spaces link together to form a series of new internal and external spaces, which aim to extend the success of Digbeth’s Custard Factory into dereliction of the industrial world beyond.
