Models Innovation Center in Valdivia Part 1 Project 2021 Javier HaberlandSebastian FreirePedro Del Campo Pontifical Catholic University of Chile Santiago | Chile Domestic and work spaces have always been part of different worlds, but as we have seen in recent times, it is of utmost importance to begin to devise an architecture that collaborates with the coexistence of both situations.In "Amalgams and Juxtapositions", we discuss the boundary between these two uses and try to redefine which one is the most important.and we try to redefine what role the building should assume in this new overlapping.The Models Innovation Center is based on the relationship between a space for technological innovation ?—specifically 3D printing and modeling— and the residence. Privacy on the floors increases from the center to the perimeter of the building ending with the most private element, the bedrooms.The first floor connects the building and residents to the neighborhood through a community dining room. Above this is the machine floor, where the residence-work duality takes place. These sectors are separated by a buffer formed by large structural walls containing service areas and offices, which in turn act as a barrier against noise and environmental pollution produced by the machines.
