The National John Ruskin Museum Part 1 Project 2019 Freya Williams University of Sheffield | UK The National John Ruskin Museum, Sheffield, is to hold the Ruskin Collection as a permanent loan from the Guild of St. George, Walkley. The collections are filled with commissioned copies of old master paintings, rare printed books and a library of standard works. With inspiration from Adolf Loos and Raumplan, the original arrangement of the museum followed the design of each individual collection, producing an environment ideal for the collection and viewer. Clusters of galleries are intended to interconnect as the visitor travels from the larger, public collections through to smaller, domestic collections. Sitting within a square in Sheffield’s city centre, Ruskin’s theories of fractal geometry and laws of continuity are explored and plaster models created to enable façade design in the surrounding environment.
