USSR MUSEUM IN KHAMOVNIKI BARRACKS, MOSCOW
It should comprise a variety of topical displays, from the Revolution in 1917 to the Perestroika.
The design consists of two basic areas: visitors’ and for service area. The visitors’ area presents a few ‘explosion-like’ prism-shaped volumes located on the left and right of a central stairway - a pivotal organizing space where visitors obtain first basic information about the Museum.
In the Museum’s yard there’s an outdoor exhibition space and an underground parking.
In the future the Museum may develop by transferring some of its displays in the adjacent building of the Khamovniki Barracks.

«MEDIA-PLATZ» MULTIPLE-PURPOSE COMPLEX
A pedestrian square is a pivotal point in the whole composition. It is laid out below the Komsomolsky Avenue, making it easier to cross the traffic artery. Historically, the square is an allusion to a drill square that existed there.
Another feature is a multistoried vertical volume. The lower part is given to multipurpose auditoriums; the middle holds a business-center and a hotel on the upper stories.
The complex’s high-rise structure provides a visual integrity for the tourist route, and closes Komsomolsky Avenue’s vista, thus creating an attractive town space and solving a town-planning problem.

The both parts of the present project are part of a group project, which had to propose a detailed architectural solution of the territory of the newly planned tourist route in Moscow.
The tourist route is to be a new development in Moscow’s tourist business sector, and in town planning conceptions. Its overall length exceeding two kilometers, it should include more than a hundred architecture and culture monuments, plenty of shops, entertainment and tourist and business outlets, and business activity zones.
The project of the USSR Museum by other hand is a part of conception for reconstruction for the complex of the Moscow Khamovniki Barracks buildings, which is a military area nowadays and a monument of early nineteenth-century architecture.
The design divides the area of the Khamovniki Barracks into three functional zones:
-Zone 1 is a military area
-Zone 2 is a mixed public and military area
-Zone 3, adjacent to the tourist route, is a public area and houses the Museum.
The Museum is done in the deconstructive style.
The project of the “Media-Platz” fixes a pivotal point of the tourist route, where the Komsomolsky Avenue crosses it. It is called to solve an important town planning problem of providing a visual integrity for the tourist route, and closes, too, Komsomolsky Avenue’s uncompleted vista.
