M3.RKK: A Hidden Cultural Park Part 2 Project 2021 Julia Hegymegi Budapest University of Technology and Economics | Hungary Due to the infrastructural system regulations of the 19th-20th century this narrow city block has been dominated by ring roads, motorways, and subways, leaving only a secondary passage through the area for pedestrians and cyclists.The urban fabric and the nearby institutions such as the dance academy, the acrobat studio and famous museums of the city park led to the design of a public park, dedicated to arts, especially in the field of underground culture.Considering the complexity of the area, thus the feasibility of any intervention the plan works with an acupuncture intervention. With simple architectural gestures (surrounding wall, enclosed volume, rising towers, greenery) it reacts to the current characteristics, creating an inner atmosphere different to the outer urban jungle.However, as a future vision it also offers the possibility of a pedestrian friendly masterplan. By connecting the area with the city park through the zoo on the ground level, it forms a pedestrian pathway to the city centre, which by time also carries the possibility of a multilevel park by the adaptive reuse of the ring road and the flyover system.
