BATIK HERO : Culture Saviour Part 1 Project 2019 Nik Muhammad Idzham Shah Abdul Hadi MARA University of Technology - Puncak Alam campus | Malaysia What is ‘batik’? Well, it originates from the Malay Archipelago, and is a technique of a wax-resist dyeing applied to cloth. This beautiful textile craft is one of the wonders of Malaysia’s identity. But, in the upcoming ages, the newer generation of youths lack the concern of it, thus, leading to its extinction of a once beautiful cultural heritage. The question is, how to ensure batik can be sustained timelessly and not treated as a thing of the past?Batik needs a ‘hero’, Malaysia needs a ‘hero’.Better late than never, the unfolding of the prestigious batik centre gives an illumination of hope to Malaysia. Designed with innovations and art technology, this centre revolutionises the batik making process.Batik was not born yesterday, so this centre still protects the tradition of the batik making to keep its value in newer ways. Located in the capital city of Malaysia will keep the batik proximate to the fashion industry. The programmes guide youth to study about batik and hopes that the batik design always updated. With its existence to save the batik culture, this centre is called Batik Hero, the saviour that Malaysia needs, but not the one it deserves right now.
